Tips to win the DELF B2
Tips to win the DELF B2

The DELF exam is divided into 4 levels: LEVEL A1, A2, B1 and B2. When we are carrying out the process to immigrate to Canada, we normally must certify the B2 level, which is quite advanced since, in fact, it is required to pursue higher studies in France. So it is essential to be very well prepared. Keep in mind the following tips that will help you obtain your diploma:

  1. It is a process: Normally, before the stipulated date for the exam, there is a registration period approximately 1 month in advance of the test. Do not miss the date for your registration because if you do you will have to wait 3 to 4 months for the next session. Additionally, once you take the exam you should have around a month to wait for the results and the diploma.
  2. Be prepared: Take 2 pens (you never know if one is going to fail) and concealer. Everything you write in pencil will not be considered for the grade, do not spend time making drafts of your written production because it is most likely that you will not have the possibility of transcribing it with a pen, try to structure your argumentative plan with key words in the draft sheet (feuille de brouillon) and then write on the exam sheet. If you need it, the concealer will be of great help.
  3. Get ready: Speaking French does not guarantee you obtaining the diploma. Carrying out an argumentative plan requires preparation, use the appropriate connectors, use good vocabulary and show your wealth of vocabulary with the use of synonyms. Organizing your ideas well will be essential to get a good score in the written and oral production skills.
  4. Manage your time: The DELF exam is taken in two moments. One day the oral comprehension, written comprehension and written production test is carried out and another day the oral production is carried out. For both parts of the exam you will have a certain time that you must manage with your watch to avoid falling short when carrying out the activities proposed in each of the skills. Since you can't have your cell phone, we recommend bringing a watch.
  5. Sign up when you're ready: The DELF exam is passed with 50 points out of 100. If your grade is 51, you have already obtained the diploma, but if you want to raise your grade it is not possible to retake it. The only way to increase this result is by taking the next level, which would be the DALF C1, which requires many more hours of French and is much more complicated. So preparing yourself is essential to ensure a good performance in the exam.
